akayla zoe

Some dear friends of ours have recently suffered a great loss. Last week when moving her van in the driveway at night, their 2 year old daughter Akayla followed her mom outside without being noticed and was struck and killed. I can't imagine what their sweet little family must be going through right now, but I do know they need help with donations to pay for the funeral expenses.

Angie is one of the most amazing moms - please keep her in your prayers and if you feel like you could contribute, here is a link to find out more, or you can go directly to any Wells Fargo branches and make the donation to the "Audgrey Jacobsen in lieu of Akayla" fund.

old photos

There is something I have always found very romantic about old photographs. Especially of my grandparents. My memories of them are only when they had aged and, well, were grandparents. You can only hope to have heard stories, to find journals, or read old letters to try and get an idea of what they were like when they were younger.

My dad was recently sent this photo of his parents, so young and handsome. My grandfather passed away last year and I miss him dearly. I was so happy to have it - as I do not have a single other photo of them so young.

A moment of happier times maybe, young and in love.

I like having these kinds of photos on our walls. My boys won't ever know these people like I did, so I like to make sure their images are around so they can at least have that small connection to them. And I can daydream about what was happening when this one moment was captured.

if only

I've discovered, now that I have 3 kids, that I don't like the snow anymore.

I think we have a bad case of cabin fever, which isn't helping. But when the rain came this weekend and took away all the snow, I couldn't have been happier. The birds were out, I refilled my bird feeder and started scoping out the yard for spring and summer projects, and we spent a little time stomping around in puddles. Sigh. It was just so nice to be outdoors.

Now I know I am just setting myself up for a big let down. I know more snow is coming. But for the weekend, it was a breath of fresh air to have the moody rain clouds around - turning out all the soggy green and dark gray colors that I love most.

blue

I'm thinking Max's eyes are staying blue.
Jack has brown. Cash has hazel... it is only fitting Max should also have his own color.

Side note: Yes, the hair sticks up all on it's own.

two in a month

Ryan and I LOVE to go to the movies, and once you add a few kids to the mix, it gets harder and harder to keep that up. So, you know the year is starting out alright, when you get to actually go to the movies twice in one month.

We saw True Grit last week, and The Fighter last night.

Both great great movies.

meet max

Here's our lazy Mr. Maxamillion.

Born on Thanksgiving Day, just after the turkey was cooked (no, I did not get to eat any).
5lbs. 12oz. and with legs as long and skinny as a pair of chopsticks.

Hobbies: eating, sleeping, being cozy, and crying like a pterodactyl.

Oh how I love him.

i'm here, just not really

I'm here.
Just adjusting to life with new baby - 3 boys - and little hope to ever leaving the house again.

This is one attempt to get my life back, so I am making my first blog entry since Max's debut. I have yet to document his mighty arrival... to take a picture to post... and if I tried to do any of those things, I probably wouldn't be on this blog entry right now.

So instead, I am going to start leaving "awesome" Cash's quotes of the day (it's his new favorite word)...

Awesome Quote #1:
Last night while we were eating dinner, mid bite Cash stops, turns towards the baby swing where Max is slumbering, and with mouth full points at him and exclaims, "That baby is awesome."

Then turned back to his food and munched away.

Awesome Cash. Just awesome.
